Selection of the working fluid for a high-temperature ORC hot-source to be applied in the Brazilian semi-arid

This paper aims to select the most suitable working fluid be applied in a high-temperature regenerative hot-source Organic Rankine Cycle, such as those driven by biomass, for climatic conditions measured from real data Bom Jesus da Lapa northeastern Brazil. To this end, commonly used fluids these systems were selected among numerous authors, discarding with high Global Warming Potential and Ozone Depletion classified wet according slope of their Temperature - Entropy diagram. Then, model developed software EES, simulation performance analysis proposed system was performed based on thermal efficiency. It conducted selection adaptation expanding parameters qualitative spinal point method, considering thermodynamic performance, environmental preservation criteria, safety, characteristics. As result, it obtained that hydrocarbons present best performances, benzene cyclohexane being attractive ORC, followed n-hexane.
